Kwara State, under the administration of H.E; Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq is ready to change the current narrative as it relates to Unemployment, gender equality, and building resilience of farmers to the adverse effects of climate change, poverty and quality of life of the citizens of Kwara.

One key challenge to unlocking these opportunities lies in the design of creative (a shift from existing) and sustainable models of investments and partnerships that will help deliver desired returns to all stakeholders.

To this end, Kwara has put together an initiative for Female Farmers, Young Kwarans and smallholder Farmers called Farm Kwara, A Farming Estate model that creates farming communities to nurture future Agripreneurs and improve the productivity of smallholder farmers.

The program does not seek to give handouts or rely solely on grants. As opposed to that, it is designed to empower the farmers to be able to pay for everything they receive - including their land and the coaching services they receive - and are trained to be able to access finance and start their own agri business within 1-2 years - allowing for sustainable replication of the project every few years.

Grants will be needed for Land Clearing and Irrigation as they are major barriers to project kick-off and sustainability.

The farm estates are designed to provide program participants with cleared irrigated land as well as high-quality input and support they need to enhance productivity.

The estates provide mechanisation and several opportunities to create new thriving local economies that go beyond farming to tap into all aspects of the food value chain.

Ultimately, the goal is develop agriprenuers and supporting sustainable structures that allow them to run the estate themselves within a 3-5 year period. Over this period, the farmers would have paid off the cost of their land, and for all the services they receive.

Each Farmer receives land and or pond/pen:
